I absolutely love the original Predator movie...I really do!
Has to be Alien though, because it was the coming together of great artistic talents, which resulted in a Science Fiction landmark!

Similar to Lone, i really like Predator, it is a great, ORIGINAL, action film and i think that the main problem with sequels is that you already have a good idea of what to expect having seen the first one.
But, like Lone, it's ALIEN for me, for the same reasons that Lone gave.
The poster was good though!

i never knew that predator was that highly regarded by many others as well ,. i always thought it was more or less considered ok by most but not nearly in the same leage as alien. it seemed though as if most people considered it well below alien.
just surprised that a lot of people felt like i do.

I prefer Alien. However, I did love all the Predator movies (even the new one) and even the first AVP movie (the second AVP movie was a disgrace though, horrible movie).

I like the Predator a lot but on its own, not in the Alien universe. For me Alien is tops.

Well as for the movies, don't know because I haven't watched any of them in years.
But in terms of which one I like better, I can definitely say Alien.
@Svanya
So you don't hate the first AVP either? Huh.

It's the Alien movies over the Predator movies for me. However, the Predator culture is far more interesting to me than the Alien. It's weird how that works. I like the Alien universe more, but I respect the Predator as a species more than I do the Alien.
Predators have culture & some sort of social system. A Predator won't kill a pregnant MOTHER. They have rules, structure, honor. It becomes possible to establish common ground with them. The company realizes that Predators value the life of human offspring (mainly so the hunt can continue). Weyland-Yutani uses all the data to their advantage to make contact with some of them.
Aliens, on the other hand, kill indiscriminately: they have no respect for human MOTHERS!! No true sense of honor, or thoughts about right and wrong. That makes them difficult to deal with.
IMO the Alien is the Deadliest of the Species. A number of virtual reality based holographic simulations were personally run by my counterpart in an attempt to determine who would win the war in the end. At the company they call this AVP. In reality, the Aliens and Predators have never crossed paths on Earth... Only the rebellious Predator clans hunt humans in the future of most timelines/universes after the treaty. For the most part, the android consciousness Ty and I have the Predators under control. The larger breed of Predator is, however, allied with the Engineers and the hunts/simulations have prepared them for an intergalactic war.

Alien is a masterpice in all aspects of movie making. It broke new ground in script, photgraphy and practical effects. It is almost faultless. I do like the original Predator but Alien is in a totally different league of film making.

I mean they're basically not even comparable. What are we grading them on? In terms of horror Alien wins, but for action Predator kills it. It's hard to compare movies that are different genres.
I like Alien a lot, but I think I definitely have more fun watching Predator, the cast, action and story are much more fast paced and interesting, whereas Alien goes with the slow stylistic approach, is Predator a better movie? I can't really say, but since I'd say they were close I'd go with Predator simply because once again, it's more fun for me to watch.

I really prefer Alien but I think that Predator was really well done too ... I think it's just more of a preference of type of movies ... Alien was more of a scifi thriller/ horror where as Predator had a much more action movie vibe ... but that's just my opinion

Both very good movies and each in its own rights.... I actually prefered Predator but only just.. so close...
As far as Sequels go i prefered Aliens to Predator 2 by a long shot.... but prefered Predators compared to Alien 3 and Alien Resurection.
